Hispanic Women’s League Endowment Fund
Our women are the backbone of our community and as such our most important asset. Thus, if we are to improve our community then we must improve the lives of Hispanic women. The Hispanic Women’s League has always believed that the best way of doing so is through the attainment of higher education. To continue to assist Latina women in attaining their higher education, the Hispanic Women’s League established the Hispanic Women’s League Endowment Fund in 2006.
What is an Endowment?
An endowment is a fund whose principal is not spent. Only the income from investments is used to support and assist the Hispanic Women’s League in granting scholarships to Hispanic women pursuing higher education. As the fund grows it becomes an important help to the Hispanic Women’s League. the scholarships we have granted over the years has helped many women defray the cost of tuition; lessen their financial burden and assures that they attain higher education regardless of financial status.
How is the fund managed?
The Hispanic Women’s League Endowment Fund is managed by community Foundation of Greater of Buffalo Board of Directors whose responsibility it is to safeguard and invest the funds. The Community Foundation uses the services of professional money managers and other experts and follows a policy of conservative investments. The Community Foundation has the capacity to combine the endowment funds of many non-profits, thus getting a big return at a low cost. The Community Foundation has a long track record of investment success. The Hispanic Women’s League Endowment Fund is a legal, tax-exempt entity.
How can I give?
The simplest method is a direct gift of money, real estate, or securities. Another method is revising your will to name Hispanic Women’s League Endowment Fund as a recipient of a percentage of your estate.
